Importance of implementing HAACP standards in food production

On December 7, 2017 a round table – working meeting of representatives of processing food companies and specialists of universities, was held in the Tajik Agrarian University named after Sh. Shotemur. Topic of the meeting was focused on the importance of the implementation of HAACP standards in food production.

The opening of the event was accompanied by fair-sale of products of Tajik producers in the field of dairy, canned and confectionery products.

The event was held within the framework of the HECAFS project. The meeting was attended by the highest teaching staff of the TAU, the deans of the faculties, as well as representatives of the food processing sector, business associations, students of faculties of the university.

Salimzoda A.F., Rector of TAU, stressed the importance of sustainable development of agriculture, for socio-economic development of the republic; increase in the volume of agricultural production; improving the quality of products; providing access to high quality products; providing the domestic and foreign market with safe food products.

M. Uljabaeva, Chairperson of NASMB paid attention to the interrelations of science and production. She noted that only specialists with a high level of knowledge will be able to achieve great successes and contribute to the development of the national economy.

Z. Nematuloev, Head of the Department of TAU, presented the progress of the project and noted the importance of cooperation between the universities of Central Asia and European universities. He mentioned about the maintenance of the interconnection between universities and food producers. Also he underlined the goals and objectives of the project and expected results, as well as talked about the work done for the 1st project year. During the speech, it was also stressed about the presenting of the results of the development of curricula and consultations with specialists of food processing companies.

During the open discussion, the participating representatives of the processing industry gave a positive assessment of the results of the project, made useful comments on closer coordination with universities, and the opportunities for further recruitment of graduate students to their enterprises.

Speakers also noted the importance of holding such events by the university, since employers do not always have the opportunity to obtain operational information about the status and prospects of training of specialists, including additional short-term educational programs.
